resources to help local Chapters. Beazer recently
assisted HomeAid chapters with projects in Dallas, Sacramento, Northern Virginia and Las Vegas.
Ian McCarthy, Beazer's President and CEO, acts as Chairman of HomeAid America's National
Advisory Board.
"I am extremely proud of our Beazer team and their generosity throughout the year and
especially in special projects," says Mr. McCarthy. "We feel fortunate as a company to be
able to share our resources with those individuals who need them, and we continue to join
our hands and hearts to build hope with HomeAid."
HomeAid America - Dallas Chapter
Some women and children have never known how it feels to be safe at home. According to an
April 2001 edition of the Metro Southwest News, "Many women and children in southwest
Dallas County who need help because of family violence or sexual abuse have nowhere close
to home to find refuge." Now they do.
Because of the concern and compassion exhibited in the partnership of three organizations
- Brighter Tomorrows, HomeAid Dallas, and Beazer Homes - these mothers and their children
will have the opportunity to live in a caring environment and establish a better life.
Beazer Homes of Dallas provided the leadership and supervision necessary to build this new
shelter for the Brighter Tomorrows program. Together, Beazer Homes and its trade partners
contributed over 70 percent of the project costs associated with the new shelter, which
will now offer a secure, supervised environment for up to 13 women and 25 children, and a
time to learn, heal and grow. Computer training and life skills classes are offered at the
shelter, skills that lead to an employment rate of approximately 75% at the time women
leave the shelter. Read More
HomeAid America - Northern Virginia Chapter
Beazer Homes Virginia was proud to lead the renovation and construction of the Alternative
House in Vienna in 2001. This center is a short-term residential program and crisis
intervention center for 13 to 17 year olds that serves over 250 teans annually. The
construction project added an additional 2,200 square feet to the facility, enhancing its
living and counseling capabilities.
Ronald McDonald House - Nashville, TN
Phillips Builders has been an active supporter of the Ronald McDonald House for over five
years by donating money from their "Spring Showcase of Homes" to the House every year. The
Ronald McDonald House provides a "home-away-from-home" for families whose children are in
one of Nashville's area hospitals undergoing treatment for serious illness or injury. The
money raised goes to help pay for families who cannot afford the minimal cost of their stay
while at the House.
Family Center - New Orleans, LA
Beazer's Houston Division will be sending 30 professional framers to New Orleans for five
days to frame the 4,400-square foot transitional housing facility. This effort is expected
to decrease the total construction time by five to six weeks. After donating over $340,000
to Hurricane Katrina Relief efforts last year, Beazer Homes' employees are proud to be able
to lend support again to those affected by Hurricane Katrina.
